"By night, the Lord lighted their way with a pillar of fire, so that they could travel by day or by night." — Exodus 13:21

Have you seen The Prince of Egypt (1998), produced by DreamWorks Animation? It’s adapted from the Book of Exodus in the Old Testament and tells the story of Moses, from his struggle against the Egyptian prince and Pharaoh to ultimately leading the Israelites out of Egypt.

What the movie doesn’t mention is that the people Moses led, fearing Pharaoh's army would catch up to them, had to camp in the wilderness. God took care of these homeless refugees by providing not only food but also guidance: "By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud, and by night in a pillar of fire, never leaving them." — Exodus 13:22

In your daily life, when your eyes are open, you need someone to guide you on where to go. In the dark, you need light to know where to rest. This inspired the creation of two works: Day Angel and Night Angel.

It’s also worth mentioning that the film’s theme song, When You Believe, performed by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, became a commercial success. It won the Oscar for Best Original Song, and I offer this hotly sought-after song full of hope once again to you as you view this painting.

As long as you believe, anything is possible!
